Risk Monitoring

Risk Monitoring, Earthcube

Risk Monitoring from Earthcube is a highly efficient GeoService for monitoring changes anywhere in the world. It will monitor disaster risks as well as the impact of disasters such as floods and landslides for disaster management activities. One of the benefits is, that you don’t have to be a remote sensing expert, because Risk Monitoring does all of that for you and provides you with frequent updates and maps that you immediately use.

You simply select an area and a time period of interest and every two or four weeks a new map showing changes for this specific area will be provided. In addition, you can choose dedicated maps outlining the evolution of forest, water bodies and infrastructure.

The basic version of the product uses Sentinel-2 data and therefore is a very cost efficient solution with frequent update possibilities. Contact us for customized change detection and reports.

Recommended use

  • Your site is 10.000 km2 wide or more?
  • You have to monitor sites around the globe?
  • You know that changes in the environment have a high impact on the value of assets and can lead to an increase of risks?

Nevertheless you do not want to screen tons of remote sensing data yourself?

The Risk Monitoring service of Earthcube does it for you. Quick, reliable and cost efficient. It finds the needles in the haystack for you and puts everything together in a situational report.

Thus you can focus on your operations and don’t have to worry about the monitoring, because we will inform when there are any changes relevant for you.

Product description

Looking for changes in large sets of remote sensing images is very challenging. The fact that most approaches generate so many false positives, makes them hardly operational. Human eyes have an amazing ability to distinguish relevant changes from the background noise. Computers typically haven’t. Or should we say hadn’t?

Earthcube’s software technology is based on advanced computer vision science mimicking the way our eyes are processing information, to offer unprecedented detection performance and to highlight only relevant changes for each of our clients.

Unlike other techniques, it works with a very minimalist learning base: it works with as little as two images! It can seamlessly process any type of image - thermal infrared, visible, radar and resolution. Therefore we can easily address almost any kind of application.

Basic change detection

With the basic risk monitoring service you get for your selected area a map, which depicts all changes, which are in size larger or equal to the selected detection size.

If you choose a single event, just insert the event date as start date and we will use an image as close to the event as possible and an image shortly after.

With every new data take you get a new map. Since data and maps are all aligned to each other, it will be easy for you to stack them in your application and do further interpretation.

Instead of the output map or in addition you can also select a situational report, which will be delivered in shp format.

Advanced Change Maps

In addition to the basic option, here the changes are further categorized. You can choose between one or multiple layers, indicating the development of vegetated areas, the changes of riverbeds and lakeshores separately.

Please note

For some applications you may want to detect also very small objects. Contact us and we will discuss with you the possibilities of the application. If you already have imagery, please visit our Change Detection Service.
